Jen Collins
Upper Elementary Directress

Jen joined Five Oaks Academy in 2024 and serves as an Upper Elementary Directress. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and spent time working in Hollywood as a photographer’s assistant. She then spent 17 years teaching computers and digital art at the high school level in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Greenville. In Greenville, she taught photography, web design, graphic design, and yearbook. She then decided to pursue her passion for photography full-time by opening her own studio, Chronicled Moments. After her son started at Five Oaks Academy, she decided to embark on a new career path in Montessori education. Jen is currently in Montessori Education training at the Center for Guided Montessori Studies (CGMS). “I am excited to join the Upper Elementary classroom as a directress in August. I have spent time in the classroom and have been awestruck by the culture of joyful learning, engaged and supportive teachers, and friends helping each other.” When Jen is not taking photos or studying, she is out with her husband and son hiking, camping, paddleboarding, and watching soccer. She is affiliated with the South Carolina Montessori Alliance (SCMA) and the American Montessori Society (AMS).
