Andrea joined Five Oaks Academy in 2016 and currently serves as our Collaborative Academic Resources for Education (C.A.R.E.) Coordinator. After learning more about the Montessori method for her two children, a Five Oaks graduate and a current middle schooler, Andrea knew FOA was a great place for her, too. Andrea is a Speech-Language Pathologist originally from suburban NY. She earned her BA from Iona College and her MA in Special Education with a focus on language and literacy from the College of New Rochelle. She then earned an MS in Speech Pathology from San Diego State University. She has over 25 years of experience working in various clinical and educational environments as a teacher and as an SLP.
Andrea maintains a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and a SC state license in Speech-Language Pathology. She is also a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. Her passion is literacy development and a whole-child approach to academic support. She believes that there is no “one size fits all” method to learning and that understanding and nurturing all aspects of a child’s development, from social-emotional needs and sensory profiles to academic strengths/ challenges, has the greatest impact on a child’s success.
